So Darn Frustrated And Angry! No One To Blame But Myself!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Jan 3, 2012, so I am 3 1/2 months out. For two weeks now, I have not only been stalled at 46 lbs, but have even gone UP 2 lbs as of this last weekend. I know I messed up this past weekend because I had a few glasses of sangria...it was homemade, lower sugar sangria, but still...I feel so bloated and gross, just from those two lbs that I am up by. I am just really disappointed in myself. I do so well, and am so proud of how far I have become, but then I have a setback and it hits me so hard!

I have had lots of those moments, rest assured that there is not 2 lbs. of fat in 2 glasses of sangria. You are only bloated, so just drink lots of Water, get your Protein in, and you will be fine!! Believe me, I have been there !!

Are you working out? Gaining muscle? Could be why the scale went up. Protein, Water, exercise... and it will start going back down. Right?

When I get to where I can really start with some weight training I will be happy if for awhile my weight goes up as long as it isn't the Fat Mass going up.

It may sound cheesie----but when I face those kind of days, I just remind myself that tomorrow is a new day. I refuse to beat myself up for being human and enjoying a few pleasures. I workout more the next day, and make sure my cals stay low. I count everything I eat and drink, and it helps me stay on track. I'm sure your weight will start moving back down!!! Hang in there---your doing great!!!

I haven't had the surgery yet, I'm waiting for approval. In the six months I have been following the diet the surgeon gave me, I have lost almost 60 lbs. Yesterday I ate 800 calories, about 40 gm carbs, 80 Protein, I worked out, even walking over 2 miles, up many hills etc. I gained 2 lbs. I almost always gain 2-4 lbs. a few days before I do a seven pound drop. This is how it's been since I started following a low carb, high Protein diet in anticipation of the sleeve. It's going to happen, Water weight, bloating, lack of BM. I am sure this will happen after the sleeve, so remember tomorrow is another day. Just keep following your plan and it will eventually come back off plus some :)

Congrats on how far you have come, don't beat yourself up and good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
