topgun 63 Posted April 26, 2012 I went shopping today to Wally World and while I was there I figured I'd buy a shirt and pair of pants for future use when I lost more weight. I've worn a 3XL shirt for years and I had a 50 waist when I started my journey. Well, I bought an XL shirt and some size 40 Levis, thinking I'd be in them sooner or later. When I got home I thought I'd put them on just to see how much further I had to go and, OMG, they BOTH fit! (The down side is that I've got a closet full of expensive 3XL Tori Richards aloha shirts that I have bought in the islands over the past few years and they're just too big for me. Oh, well, I'll take the trade off!) One NSV is that I don't have to pay the surcharge for "extra size" clothes. The elation I felt when I put these clothes on was immeasurable and it wiped away any thought in my mind whether or not the sleeve was the right decision or not. For all you newbies and pre-op members, If you haven't felt it yet, you will! 7 4myLuvBugs, Lissa, ChristineS and 4 others reacted to this

ToyBoy 26 Posted April 26, 2012 Maybe you can think about passing them on to someone else on this journey. I have a lot of clothes I would love to keep, but i understand that at my size stylish clothing is expensive. I know there are people who can benefit from some nice things. I look forward to my new, cheaper and smaller clothes. I don't know if this forum has a clothing exchange, but it would be a nice idea. pay it forward. If I can't get them altered, I like the idea of passing them on to someone who will appreciate them. I'll post info later if that's the way I go with the shirts. At $85 - $95 bucks a pop retail, they are just too nice to drop off somewhere anonymously (don't get me wrong, I donate a LOT to charities).
ToyBoy 26 Posted April 26, 2012 @topgun. I completely understand. I'm just thinking about people on this journey who will loose a lot of weight rapidly. It can get very expensive buying clothes monthly that will only fit for a couple of weeks before becoming to big. I would be willing to post pix and ship my clothes (c.o.d. of course) to someone who could use them now. I am a big girl, but very stylish. I think some people give up on their appearance when they become large. I always want to look my best. It's not uncommon for me to spend 150+ on jeans, or 100 on a shirt. I just think someone else can appreciate them more than I would if I altered them. I have a sowing machine and thought about taking some items in, but I'm so looking forward to shopping.
