Used C-Pap machine for severe sleep apnea for probably 5-7 years! After VSG, no sleep apnea, no machine. Yayy!! Now, if I lay flat on my back, and am really tired, my husband says I snore - but who doesn't ??? At 58, I would anyhow! lol I just know that completely breathless feeling when I even laid down on the couch to take a nap left never to return!!!! JOY!!!!

This sounds encouraging! I have sleep apnea and my VSG surgery date is in a couple of weeks. I am hoping the weight loss will help me put the C-PAP machine back in the box it came in!

Mine has improved some, but I'm not off the machine YET! I've upped my cardio to exercise the heart and lungs, which my doc and I are hoping will eliminate the machine. Even if it doesn't, my energy levels are through the roof and I'm no longer tired every minute of every day like I was before surgery. I'll take it. :)

Wow that's great Lissa I have not had my sleep apnea test yet but my doctor is 99.9% sure I have it and I was just wondering if it would get better after surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
