Lying In Bed 24 Hrs Post Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Omg that's awful .. I've been reading your post and I can't believe they're so unprofessional there. I was sleeved 9 days ago and I feel better. The first 4 days were bad but not to tht extend. Hope you feel better as time goes by. I have lost 25 pounds so far and the drainage was removed yesterday and I felt it. Lol

HI Bellatrix,

I had the same problem you did. I threw up black stuff the minute i woke up after sedation and the nurses told me its dried blood.. it was horrible. I basically slept through the first day...

every time they change the drip to glucose, i thought i'm well and am able to go for a jog, WRONG! the minute they take glucose off, i died.... lol

Anyhow, glad to know you're better and going home!!

Let's GO April slivers!!

Thanks for everyone's support, just managed a cup of tea and waiting for my meds from pharmacy, I made a formal complaint to the ward manager this morning about my husband having to wash me in the evening because no nurse had offered to assist me, and having to wait over an hour for analgesia, and getting told despite the fact I was nil by mouth I couldn't have IV paracetamol cos it was too expensive despite the fact I have scrimped and saved to self fund! I must say though the night nurses were wonderful! And my surgeon was amazing! Thanks for everyone's kind wishes! Go April Sleevers!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
