Cmullinvegas 39 Posted April 25, 2012 I need some motivation. Right now doc said I can walk. I try to schedule walks with friends. I'm walking a 5k Saturday for autism. I need to be walking everyday for longer periods. How do you motivate yourself?
BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted April 25, 2012 I think partaking in races is a great idea! Make your next race an 8K or a 10K, that way you have something to work towards. As you are further out from your surgery, you can also start running - that way you can work on improving your finish times.
Nicki D 33 Posted April 25, 2012 Take a dog for a walk, if you do not have one you can go to your local dog shelter and the dogs there will be happy to see and go and take you for a walk. 1 rodswife reacted to this
Kristin 34 Posted April 27, 2012 I wear a pedometer and set a goal for myself of at least 10000 steps a day. Keeps me motivated to get all my steps in!
Cmullinvegas 39 Posted April 28, 2012 I successfully completed my 5k. I walked and finished in 1 hour and 3 minutes. I hope to increase my time at next month's 5k. Thanks
Miriam 50 Posted April 28, 2012 I do indoor / treadmill walking and other exercise while watching The Biggest Loser (there's a great site with lots of shows including Biggest Loser Australia) - only watch while exercising, so if I want to know what happens next, I've got to exercise! I also have to add that my energy levels have gone up tremendously since I started exercising about 5 or 6 weeks post-op and I feel a difference even if I've missed only one day of exercise. So that is an addiitonal motivator for me to keep on track with my exercise program.
