EmilyIsSleeved 6 Posted April 25, 2012 I had my surgery 3/6 and lost 15 pounds my first two weeks. Since then I have only lost 4 more pounds. I go in for my 2 month follow up on May 3rd. I'm worried that my surgeon will be disappointed at only losing 19 pounds. Just wondering, is this rate normal? Or am I just destined to be a slow loser? I have been following the diet and exercise program so I don't know what else I could do to increase the loss (any tips are welcome).
Cmullinvegas 39 Posted April 25, 2012 Everyone loses at different rates. I know it's hard but don't compare yourself to others. Studies show those who lose weight slowly are less likely to gain it back. Plus losing slowly is better for your skin. If your bothered, you could always pump up your workouts and lower calories, but maybe see what doc says first. You're still a loser! Good luck.
happy1957 138 Posted April 25, 2012 I too am a slow loser, but so far I have lost consistently each week with the exception of the famous three week stall that lasted 3.5 weeks. My surgery was 12-28-11, I have lost 29 lbs since my surgery and that includes the pre- liquid diet. Most people think I've lost much more. So far the skin is pretty good considering I'm and old lady. I have always been a slow loser, have less than some to lose and have age against. It came on slow, so I will be patient. I see huge life changes already. At to months I was afraid my Dr would be upset, she was elated, also counted the weight I lost prior to surgery and thought percentage wise I was ahead of schedule. I had feared her reaction and she actually made me feel so successful. Keep up the good work! 1 kayte819 reacted to this
EmilyIsSleeved 6 Posted April 25, 2012 Well that's the thing. My surgeon doesn't like to count what was lost on the pre-op diet because it lasted so long. If he counted that, I would be down 40 pounds which makes things sound a whole lot better. I find it strange that I lost much more on the pre-op diet with a huge stomach versus trying to lose weight with my now tiny stomach. Im sure the weight loss will catch up, as it makes no mathematical sense not to lose when I am eating less than 1/4 of what I used to. Maybe I will get lucky and my stall will break just before my appointment (one can only hope). Thanks for your responses.
readyforachange 51 Posted April 25, 2012 I'm a slow loser, too. Surgery was Feb 6 and I've only lost 35 lbs. But that's okay. It's better for me. ONly thing I don't like are these stalls. Seems like I won't lose for 3 wks, then will lose 3 lbs. My big problem is exercise.....not doing it. I keep saying, "when the weather gets better".
