Hey everyone,

I'm noticing I'm starting to feel REALLY hungry since I had my GB removed Friday. It's a painful hunger too. Before I could go hours not realizing that I haven't eaten. Now it seems that I feel this empty stomach feeling every 2-3 hours. Is this normal??

Please tell me this goes away.

Can it be gas? Hope it goes away soon. ;)

I had my gallbladder removed 10 months post-op, in December. I haven't noticed any more frequent hunger since--immediately post-op I felt so awful I lost an additional five lbs. I hope what you are feeling is just temporary due to your surgical recovery.

It may be gas and I've tried gas x strips to no avail. I thought about increasing my nexium to twice a day to see if it helps. Thanks for the input!

Is it that time of the month? I had mine taken out two weeks ago and have to keep reminding myself to eat. My appetite finally came back yesterday.

Afro_cyster not my time yet. And even though I'm hungry all the time everything I eat tastes so nasty. It's like they took my taste buds too!

Ok, so now if you notice my stat, you'll notice a change. I was hungry ALL DAY yesterday. And I started today off hungry. I definitely do not like this I am sooooo close to Onderland.

I edited to add that everything I eat is so tasty.....lol. I truly have a sleeve of steel. There is nothing this thing won't eat.

HI, I had GB surgery about a month ago. I went for my check up the doctor said look at you that's too much weight you've lost!! I eat quite a bit now, use the bathroom constantly and wake up extremely hungry! I don't attribute the pain to gas! I am on pain meds for pain, and acid reflux. So I just down Water until I feel better. But yes I am crazy hungry no matter if I ate everything in sight!!

I think it's my body's response to having bile again. I had my GB out on 7/8/24 and have been feeling like I have to eat everything in site.

Prior to my GB removal I hadn't been able to eat more than an egg's volume for 8 months.

But the pain is real. I could go days without noticing hunger. Now, if I go more than an hour without something small, I can and will double over in pain. And it doesn't take much to relieve. 3 or 4 saltine crackers and I feel better.

I still can't eat much in a single sitting. But I am up to 2 eggs in volume.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
