1st appt. w/PCP since surgery

Recommended Posts

First thing they do is weigh you of course and for once in my life I wasn't dreading it as bad as usual. It's been 5 weeks to the day since surgery and I had lost 26 pounds. I was sooooo thrilled. My fill last week was just 1.5 and I still have no restriction so I called and got an appt. for next week but now I;m wondering should I give the fill 2 weeks to see if it does anything. Either way I'm so proud. That's more weight than I have ever lost at anything before. :clap2:

26 pounds in 4 weeks is great. I was banded July 25 (originally), then there was a tiny problem and they went back in to correct something on the 27th. Anyhow, it was great for a while, I was not hungry and was losing almost a pound a day, that is, until I started eating cottage cheese and some soft scrambled eggs. I have not lost anything since then. Plus, I am hungry all of the time. I don't want to be a downer here, I just need to know what you did differently.

26 is a good number.........no, it is a great number for you.

God bless

I went through a hungry spell to and then I started adding up my Protein and I was only getting in about 15, so when I upped it with the Protein powders and about all I ate was either fish, or tuna, or spoon of Peanut Butter on toast it started working again. Are you getting enough protein?

It'll happen and your like me, I started eating my reg. foods and that week I gained 2 and didn't loose any all week and I got scared but when I started keeping up with it, I think it was P'nut who told me to watch my protein and it really helped.

Things will get better for you and things seem to turn fast. So hang in there and I'm sending you a big ole hug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, most of what I am eating is cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. I still drink a few Protein shakes, but that is not satisfying for along. I have only eaten one truly solid meal. I grilled my hubby a really nice steak the other night and I cut what would have been a couple of bites off of it and put it on my plate with veggies and cottage cheese. When I finished that meal, I felt full for several hours. I cut my steak up into about 12-15 bites rather than 2-3. I was eating solid food a little prematurely, but chewed until it was pretty much liquid in my mouth. That sounds gross and I really do not mean to gross anyone out, but just letting those that are newer to this than I am, you must chew, chew, chew.

It is encouraging to hear from others that they had similar experiences and went on to lose a lot and lost it fast. I weighed this morning and I finally did drop another pound. Thank the LORD!!!!!

Thanks for your response. Your success is encouragement for others. Share it with other threads.........you never know what it may mean to someone else.

God bless

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
