I had Gallstones and Pancreatits 10 years ago...I was pregnant with my son, and had all of the classic symptoms of gallstones, but my OB insisted that I was fine, despite several U/S, performed by several different techs, who all said it was stones. 3 weeks after my son was born, I vomited green bile 37 times in 1 evening. I went to the ER, and was taken in to surgery the next morning...recovery wasn't bad at all, despite the JP drain. Still, 10 years later, I have phantom pains, but I just rest, and hydrate. Take it serious...pancreatits is nothing to play around with! I hope you get some relief soon! Hugs and Prayers!!!

Wow! That is scary! So was it pancreatitis or gallstones or both? And did they remove your entire gallbladder or just the stones? I was very nauseous last night and thought I was gonna have to give up the little food I had eaten, but it passed. Outside of the nauseau yesterday, I felt much better....we will see for today, I already feel the familiar pain throbbing at my right side and belly area...sigh...

I had both gall stones and pancreatitis, but the Pancreatits was due to the overflow of bile from my gall bladder, it infected my pancreas. They removed my gall bladder, and then put a jp drain into my pancreas to drain all of the infection, plus a heavy iv and oral round of antibiotics. I hope your dr. can find the root cause of your problems, and fix ya right up! Sending prayers hun! Feel better soon!

Update today. Ultrasound showed no gallstones. I still have slight discomfort, not what I would describe as pain...but just there.

I have started walking again with no pain. Will followup with my surgeon and see what he recommends at this point....

I started having similar pains this Sunday, and they haven't stopped since.

I will be 2 weeks post op this Thursday.

6 weeks post op now - I had what is called a HIDA scan that tests the function of my gallbladder and it showed that my gallbladder is functioning fine. Completely normal. However, the discomfort is still there. Since the HIDA scan / Ultrasound have come out normal. The Doctor has ruled out my gallbladder and thinks the pain may be be Fluid that has collected in that area and needs to just slowly seep away.... I am not sure what to do from here except for take the pain and wait. I can't even really call it pain anymore, it is more of discomfort..... The pain is nothing like the day I went to the ER.

Hope this helps...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
