oj so I have been really sick this past week secondary to stress(it is not WLS related) I am still losing but I am having major guilt issues because I have missed my Protein mark 3x's in about 8days. how awful is that for my system? Any helpful hints? I never realized how badly I shut down when one of my children are in crisis. My mind seems totally off my goals and fixated on the giant matter at hand. Please pass the wisdom

Missing your Protein goal a few times isn't going to mess you up, but if you don't take good care of yourself, you can't take good care of others. Since this surgery has some nutritional parameters, you have to put yourself first, meet your needs, then minister to others. It doesn't mean that we are selfish, or need to feel guilty, but we have to stay strong to be strong for others. Prayed for you.

I love what Bionicwoman stated. It is extremely important to prioritize yo in this journey in order to have better health. If your children are in crisis, then it will weigh on you, but know that they have the skills to seek help and it's good for them to be allowed to figure some of this out for themselves. They will be ok with your support, but only if your taking care of yourself. This is a time to role model for your kids what they should be doing for themselves. You are an awesome mom, and it's ok to prioritize you. Missing your Protein quota a couple days (3) is not that big of a deal. Just recognize what was going on at the time you didn't get your protein in and be extra careful not to let that happen again. You are doing a great job taking care of yourself. Keep it up. ;)

I have to agree with the previous posters. You must make yourself a priority because no one else will. You can't take care of others if you're in bad shape, either. Get in your Water and Protein to make sure you are capable of taking care of someone else. :) Good luck and I hope your kid is okay!

thanks guys. I am trying but with the issues my oldest has he does NOT have the skills to figure it out himself. He will be with us majority of his life if not forever. It is awful to deal with this stuff. Thanks for the boost I hit goal yesterday for Protein and am intending to repeat today. Its just hard to make goal when stress is so heavy the desire to eat is missing. o well its all up to the man upstairs now!

It is so difficult on everyone when caring for a family member, let alone a child that has some kind of limitations. YOu are a wonderful loving parent that really needs to take good care of yourself in order to be able to be there for your loved one. You are an ANGEL! So blessed are you. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
