How Much Can You Eat?

Recommended Posts

I think I'm going to struggle with this as well. My husband eats large portions (usually 2 plates) for each meal. Even now, I watch him and can't understand where he puts its all!

But sitting at the dining room table, if I'm only going to be eating literally a small fraction of what he eats, it's going to feel very odd.

I'm having my surgery in 18 days, and I start my pre-op liquid diet on Sunday. So I guess the next two weeks will give me a good idea of what things will be like for the month after surgery.

Still, hard to wrap my head around it. Especially the fact that this is going to be for the rest of my life!

I'm psyched to lose the weight and get super healthy..........but a bit scared about how long it will take my head to catch up with my body.......

:)

10 weeks- one chicken taco. $3.25 (that is, a GOOD taco. not Taco Bell;)

Yeah, watch out for Taco Bell. Just one of those little crunchy tacos are 180+ calories. They really suck too.

I can eat 6 oz of yogurt at a time slowly, but only 3 oz of dense Protein. liquids? I am bottomless. I can see how one could drink themselves back to fat.

I am 8 days Post Op and can tell you I never realized how many food shows are on TV until this past week at home post op! :)

I, too, don' t have an issue with liquids--as long as I sip slowly and take small sips. That feeling of fullness is astounding me, too, especially when its just a few ozs. of plain vanilla yogurt.

My 14 day liquid Pre Op really opened my eyes to how much of my food issues were mental, so I have prepared myself to deal with this Post Op. I agree, sleeving for the brain would probably be a much better option.

We download most of our TV shows from the internet and they have the commercials cut out. So I won't be tempted or develop "head hunger" and cravings because of watching all the food commercials.

Not much at all. I can eat a couple Tablespoons of Protein and a bit more if it's Soup or soft. I'm 3 months out yesterday.

Funny--I got in the habit of using my DVR to watch TV and fast forward through the commercials during my Pre Op.

Boy, you make me feel like a pig. I just ate 4 oz. of chicken with a few green Beans. I'm just a little over 3 months out.

At 10 months out I now try to make sure my meals consist of some dense protien. I can eat one lean cuisine. I typically can only eat 3/4 of it, but I finish the rest overtime.

2.5 months post-op typical day:

Breakfast - 3 oz carbmaster yogurt,1 hard boiled egg, coffee

lunch - 2 oz meat, 1 hard boiled egg, small can of V8

afternoon snack - 5 Ritz crackers, 1 oz cheddar cheese

dinner - 3 oz meat, 1/4 cup veggies (if that)

dessert - 1/2 cup low fat frozen yogurt

Compared to what other people are eating, it looks like a lot. Compared to what I was eating pre-VSG, it's next to nothing. Note: I am not losing weight very quickly but I know that my metabolism is fooched.

I can finish 8 oz of Protein Shake no problem, hot cereals and Soups 1/2 cup, dense food like meats/veggies about 1/4 cup, about 3 weeks out and 13 pounds down since surgery. I feel great!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
