Avocados?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

im 3 weeks post-op and doing fantastic.... on the mushies and on the mend.

My awesome neighbor gave me some beautiful avocados and I have been dying to try a bit of them. I am doing everything they ask on the diet- getting plenty of Protein, keeping thefat & carbs low and such. My nut is out for a few days so I was wondering what y'all thought about having a 1oz bit of avocado at this stage?

I am on-track with loosing my weight and work out 3-5x week.

Cheers

-kat

Avocados are packed full of Vitamins and I think they meet the 'mushies' requirement perfectly if they are ripe. I love them. They can be a bit high in calories but at this point, you're only going to be able to eat a small amount so don't worry about the calories. If it were me, I'd enjoy.

I mash mine with a little pico de gallo and lemon juice. So good and refreshing.

Absolutely eat them, they are full of Vitamins and good fat...we do need that too! You wont be able to eat enough to make that much of a difference calorie wise so I say go for it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
