shawne22 0 Posted April 23, 2012 I completed all insurance requirements (Aetna) this time last year but loss my insurance when I switched employers and my new plan (still Aetna) did not cover bariatric surgery. This past January I went from contractor to permanant federal employee and chose Aetna. I called Johns Hopkins in the beginning of March in hopes of not having to start all over. Luckily, I didn't since it hadn't been quite a year since I finished so I just had to have a refresher with the nut (3/21) and the psych (3/29). My paper work was submitted to Aetna on 4/6 and I got my approval on 4/11. I talked to Hopkins today and my chart has to be reviewed by the nurse and I should get a call within 3-4 days with a surgery date:) I am oh so very scared but also very much excited to get er done! Amany194 9 Posted April 24, 2012 Good luck my surgery is 15 th of may. I was really lucky didn't go through any problem or waiting to be scheduled for the surgery as my BMI is 42 plus couple of health problems diabetics lower back pain, cholesterol, heel spur and great risk of cardio vascular disease so the surgeon agree to proceed straight away and said I am an excellent candidate to it. But whether or not we reach to the surgery easy or took long time it is really worth to fight for it. It is long journey with our big bodies who was stoping us of lots of life enjoyment. Best of luck for u lady God bless ur new journey
