Has Anyone Seen The Show "the Real Skinny" ?

Recommended Posts

I just happened to catch it last night on Discovery Fitness & Health. It followed 2 wls patients, who had lost huge amounts of weight, thru the process of getting total body lifts. It was really interesting (a little gory as they show the procedures) but worth a look!

It's an interesting show, and made me rethink having plastics.

I saw it on TLC. I just hope I don't have that much loose skin but with my luck I will since I want to lose from 90-125 more pounds. From what I remember TLC will be casting for the show but I am not sure I'd want to have my surgery and recovery televised --- unless proceedure(s) are free. LOL

I have it taped but haven't watched it. There's a true life episode on MTV called 'I hate my new body' that is about a lap-bander who lost a ton of weight and now has a massive amount of extra skin. He gets his band unfilled and eats like a maniac for a night and then goes back and gets it filled again. Quite interesting if you can find it to watch.

My 600 lb life is a series about 4 people over 7 years after gastric-by-pass. It puts things in perspective. We all have our own journey....

Here it is. I live in Los Angeles and I think I just need a pannilectomy and will try to get insurance to pay for it. I want to see if I can use Dr. Katzen. We should all be working to make most of these procedures covered after massive weight loss. You all know as well as I that this is a medical issue.

I just saw the previews on the TLC website. It looks like a really cool show... but, really? Do surgeons really cart out the fat and skin they remove for the patients to see after the surgery? That seems like a "made-for-TV" moment that wouldn't happen under normal circumstances.

Does anyone know if this show is available on demand anywhere?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
