momof3b1g 3 Posted December 1, 2012 You can do it! I had my sleeve done at HH in July, and haven't looked back. The pre op and the first four days were the worst for me, but each day gets better. Best of luck on your journey!
BeGuiled 36 Posted December 1, 2012 Sorry I can't join you guys, it sounds like a group walk / get together would be fun! I was in Stratford for 25 years (originally from Bpt) but moved to Texas 2 years ago. It would be a stretch to get back to CT! I wasn't sure if WLS was a big thing up there but down here, there are billboards and TV commercials everywhere for it! I'm headed back up there for Xmas.....hope to stay in touch! I am originally from same area of CT.
kareese62 15 Posted December 1, 2012 Hi Ct. sleevers, Im in NW Ct. and will be having my sleeve at HH sometime in February. (6 months nut visits per insurance). Ive already lost 23 lbs. on my own since starting my journey. SW 303. CW 280. i have my psych visit on Monday. Kinda nervous about it. This has been exciting so far. But worry about surgery. I have Dr. Papasavas anyone else have him? So proud of all my sister sleevers in Ct. Cant wait to live life again!
momof3b1g 3 Posted December 2, 2012 I was with the same practice, but had Dr Tishler- no complaints at all. I was nervous about the psych consult, but it seemed like a formality to me- a double check toile sure you know what your getting yourself into! Congrats on your loss- your journey has already started!

Congrats on your loss- your journey has already started! When did he do it for you? Neither tishler nor papasavas would do it for me in 2010. They only wanted to do the band. They claimed the insurance (medicare and anthem) woulnt cover sleeve. Less than a year later, yale was able to get coverage from the insurance companies for vsg. I'm down to 197 from 330. I'll have my 1 yr check up in a couple of weeks. I still miss being able to have Soup. Wonder what they will allow one year post surgery.

JEANMR1 25 Posted December 27, 2012 I had mine done on 12/6. I'm down 28 pounds (from 256) since 12/1 which was the start of the preop diet. I find that the hardest part now is reconciling my mouth enjoying the taste of food vs my stomach capacity.
Tolland 0 Posted January 9, 2013 Hello, I live in Granby, CT. I had my sleeve surgery on 12-11-12 with Dr. Raftopolous at SFH. He did NOT want to give me the sleeve and has been pretty negative about my decision. He still has me on liquids and I will stay on liquids until the end of January! He's afraid I won't be successful. I do have a problem, though, with an accute meniscal tear that doesn't allow me to do much more than limp around. I need to figure out other exercises.
