Connecticut Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I find it amusing every hospital seems to be touted as the best in the state. All I can say is I had it at Norwalk Hospital with Dr. Craig Floch. My hospital stay was amazing. The staff was attentive and sympathetic. i had a private room and anything I needed. i was there for 3 days. dr Floch and the PA were there for me when I needed them. i have since lost 90 pounds since Oct 3 and never felt better. This is me, last Saturday, on a trip to Cuba, to see my son Graduate from the international film school there

I live in CT too. I have not been scheduled for my sleeve yet, but I have finished all of the prelims. I too have Dr. Gedeon and like him very much. Bristol Hospital is supposed to have one of the best weight loss surgery programs in the state. I hope to be sleeved by the end of August. This waiting is for the birds!

Nancy, welcome! Luckily the waiting is typically 2 weeks or less (they can have up to 30 days I think, but most are quicker to approve). Good luck!

If you are in contact with a surgeon/bariatric center, they usually have support groups who welcome pre and post op patients.....if not, any hospital that does bariatric surgery usually offers support groups.

HTH.....good luck!

I went to griffin hospital.

I started at Yale about 2 years ago but they wouldn't even let me meet the drs till I finished my 6 months nutritional visits n I was disappointed with the whole process there.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
