Small Goals Make It Seem Achievable...

Recommended Posts

So I know some of you already do this, but I find setting small goals gives me little victories along the way and prevent me from getting discouraged when stalls hit. When you have large amount of weights to lose it can seem daunting to reach a huge goal. Setting small ones along the way help us reach them. The way I do it is set a goal and state the reason why it's my goal. Then I set several others after them. See below:

Starting today, 209.6 (down from 243.6-includes 2 week pre-op and surgery on 3/13/12)

1st goal- lose 6 (this will take my overall weight loss, including pre-op to 40 lbs/ weight will be 203.6)

2nd goal-lose 4 (this will take me to Onederland, 199.6)

3rd goal-lose 6 (this will take me to 50 lbs weight loss and half way to goal,193.6)

4th goal-lose 4 (this will take me to the 180's, 189.6)

5th goal-lose 6 (this will take me to 60 lbs lost and 60% to goal, 183.6

6th goal-lose 0.6 (this is my wedding weight from 13 years ago,183)

7th goal-lose 4 (this will put me at 179-I haven't seen the 170's in 16 years,179)

8th goal-lose 5.4 (this will put me at 70 lbs lost and 70% to goal, 173.6)

9th goal-lose 4 (this will put me in the 160's, 169.6)

10th goal-lose 6 (this will put me at 80 lbs lost and 80% to goal, 163.6)

11th goal-lose 4 (this will put me in the 150's-haven't seen this in 18 years, 159.6)

12th goal-lose 6 (this will put me at 90lbs lost and 90% to goal, 153.6)

13th goal-lose 4 (this will put me in the 140's, 149.6)

14th goal-lose 6 (GOAL!!! 100 lbs lost)

15th goal-maintain, maintain, maintain

Please join me if you like. When we achieve our mini goals it feels so good and it's a chance to Celebrate successes along the way. Good luck!

Okay, so I met my 1st goal and have officially lost 40 lbs. Yay me! I need to lose 4 more to get into One-derland so I will focus on this until it is met. It will be fun to cross these off my list of achievements. Good luck to everyone.

Small goals are great for keeping one motivated.

My goals are to weigh less than my family members!

The first one was to weigh less than my husband, which I achieved last week - yippee!!

Next up is my dad, then my brother and my mother and once I way the same as my little brother, I have reached goal!!

Those are great goals. I finally weigh less than my husband, but only by a pound. I'll take it.

I never set official goals, but I did not look at the long-term either. I suppose my next goal was also the next pound. I celebrated every pound down and I still do! It is most definitely the small victories and our NSV's that make this journey not only possible but enjoyable as well.

That's awesome! Keep up the great work. I do focus on my weight but I more focus on my size. I'm 5'8" and haven't been below 200# in almost 15 years. So my first weight goal is 200 & at 10 days post-op I'm 21 away from that. But I've also dropped enough around my waist that my size 20 & 18 pants are falling off. I'm excited to be able to wear my 14/16 clothes right now :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
