FluffyBleu76 32 Posted April 22, 2012 I feel like a blimp! Not much pain except for the gas and I feel super bloated. I have been walking... alot! What else can I do?
VACookey 111 Posted April 22, 2012 Oh wow, the first two weeks are rough. You just keep walking and do your best to manage the pain. I promise you it will get better!
FluffyBleu76 32 Posted April 22, 2012 Thanks Debby! The pain isn't bad but the bloating is horrible. What else can I do to get this gas out?
Mr_Worm 129 Posted April 22, 2012 Gas X..or Beano...for over the counter. My doc sent me home with prescription gas relieve after surgery, maybe you can have something called in?. Walking really is the key too
sleeveInSD 17 Posted April 22, 2012 I was just sleeved this past Wednesday 4/18 and had terrible bloating and gas...I've been walking but discovered that standing in place and sort of rotating my hips around (slowly) as if I'm dancing really helps to move that gas around. I know it sounds silly but it helped me.
tmorgan813 13 Posted April 22, 2012 Congrats on your sleeve. The only thing that helped me was walking. I walked ALL THE TIME. I had my sleeve done on the 12th and am now walking 3-5 miles a day...not all at once, I break it up between 4-5 walks. It is the ONLY thing that helped get the gas out and I also think it helped me heal much faster than I expected to. It's been almost 10 days, and I am already getting my Protein and liquids in. When I started, I couldn't even get an ounce of liquid in me with out feeling "overly full" and bloated. So, I say walk as much as you can....where ever you can. I live in a Condo and my first two days home, i walked in circles until the gas moved and I felt better. Good luck and let us know how you are doing!!! cassieh 136 Posted April 22, 2012 I was sleeved on 3/29 and my gas was horrible. The day I got home from the hospital I walked about 10 times a day. It really was the best thing for the gas and bloating.
FluffyBleu76 32 Posted April 22, 2012 Thank you all so much! I have been walking in circles around the house. I think tomorrow I am going to have my husband take me to the mall and walk around there. The walking does help! I think I underestimated how beneficial walking would be, Again, thanks for all the advice and encouragement.

UK Cathy 977 Posted April 22, 2012 Sip, sip, sip the liquid. I found this helped too. Congratulations on your sleeve!
GreginMI 76 Posted April 22, 2012 The reason the Gas X won't work is because the bloating is caused by the gas they use to blow your abdomen up so they can work in there during surgery. It's not in your stomach, it's in your body cavity. Walking is about the only thing that will work. 1 FluffyBleu76 reacted to this
