Just got back from Upper GI......

and the radiologist told me I was wide open. I feel so relieved knowing that I still have some hope with this band. I also know why I was able to eat more than I should be able to. I guess my big problem now is dealing with the esophagial spasms. Someone either on here or another board mentioned some kind of medicine you could take. I would love to know what that is. Drinking something warm helps most of the time, but not all of the time.

Thanks for everything!

Miper, I don't have any advice to offer on the spasms. I have been reading your other posts and am glad to see that you are just not restricted enough as opposed to some sort of other problem. Are you going to be getting a fill soon?

I hope so. I don't know how long it takes for Dr. Chappano to get the results....I hope it's soon.

I have heard of a couple of things on here, not sure if they'll help your problems are not but I'm sure someone on here will chime in. Someone suggested I buy aloe vera juice and I did and I think it's wonderful stuff, and I've heard of the papaya tablets. Maybe someone smarter than myself will post on here. I wish you all of the luck in the world and hope things start going your way.

Thank you very much. I will be getting some aloe vera today. I already have papaya enzyme, but forget to take it. Does the juice taste weird or anything?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
