I took off a little over two weeks. Surgery was on a Monday and my my post op appointment was two weeks after on a Tuesday. I went back to work on Wednesday. I if I have a desk job so I think that makes a difference, but I felt fine and my coworkers knew I had surgery and were very supportive!

I took three weeks off. I have a desk job, was tired the first couple of days, but did fine.

Even if one feels like returning to work earlier, it's very nice to take some time because adapting to the new eating/drinking/supplement regimen is a lot of work and requires focus!!

I was sleeved on 4/2/12 and will return to work on 4/30/12 4 weeks. I work a physical job lots of moving around. I do feel well enough to return to work now but I'm taking 1 more week to make sure. Good luck with your surgery!

My job made me take 6 weeks bacause my Doc would no sign off on normal activity until then. (lifting over 10 pounds) I was REALLY ready to go back around 4 weeks. Its really nice to have the time to get into a groove with your new life and heal up, start eating almost real food...

I was released from the Hospital with zero restrictions. My surgeon said if I feel like I can do some activity then do it but if I feel like I'm not ready then don't do it. My main obstical was the severe gas that you burp up. It took about a week for the really bad gas to pass and another week got it to completely go away. 2 days post op I was up cleaning house trying to keep moving. I lifted mop bucket, laundry baskets, vaccumed floors, took out trash and walked as much as possible.

My surgeon told me that I would be allowed to work if I had a non-strenuous job after 2 weeks. I have an in-home childcare so I wasn't supposed to begin again until after 4 weeks (due to all the lifting, running etc..). But I waited 3 weeks and I feel good enough so I've begun accepting my children back. I even lift my 4 year old who weighs 40 lbs. Please don't tell my surgeon that though. lol

I was sleeved on the 11th and returned to work today. I really probably could have gone back after a week, but I figured to pamper myself a little. I hated hearing that alarm this morning. No problems at work today just a bit more tired than I had been at this time of day last week. I guess that's why its called work. ;)

I took one week off of work, but started to work from home after 3-4 days. I felt fine going back to work, although I was careful about movement and not doing too much....well, for the first day back and then it all went back to normal. Just remember to bring your Protein Shakes with you to work so you have something to 'eat'.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
