Mush Stage, Blended Fruit Okay?

Recommended Posts

I have been tolerating Protein Shakes, but getting so sick of them. I'm trying different kinds but each is worse than the next. I would like to do some of eggface's Protein Shake recipes. I'm on mush, can I put the fruit in my food processor and add it in my Protein shake? I don't want to use it as a meal but a way to get those Protein Drinks down.

My nutritionist says fruit with any kinds of seed or any that is acidic is off limits for weeks (can't remember the exact amount right now). Acidic fruit may not be tolerated bu the tummy and the small seeds like most berries have can get caught in the suture line.

I am starting my fourth week. Wanted to try peaches, strawberries, cherries, and pineapple. Each recipe has very little. Maybe I could try peaches or cherries then, no seeds and not acidic right?

At 4 weeks you may be okay. It seems the number of weeks was three. I'll check my stuff and repost. Oh, the other thing she said was the skin is also hard on our new tummies. I will get back to you in a few.

Just read it. It says avoid all fruit exct for bananas for 6 weeks. I'd say to proceed with caution if you try it.

Try some different extracts. banana extract, peppermint extract, cherry, etc. There are a lot of them out there and I saw a recommendation somewhere that they helped with flavoriing things.

Mine stuff says no raw veggies until 6 weeks out too. Sorry! I have a link to another surgeons site that I will try and find and post to see what that doctor says. It seems there are so many thoughts and opinions from all the professionals.

I have no idea what it says. It is detailed though so it may be useful for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
