One Year and At Goal

Recommended Posts

Friday marked one year for me and what a great year it has been. On Saturday I went to the walk in clinic where my PCP is and asked the nurse to weigh me........................

I am 7 pounds below my goal weight.

I am ready to stop loosing and work on maintaining now.

Thanks to you all for the year of great support and encouragment.

Congratulations on a job well done!!! What a wonderful year of change you must have had!!! I hope that by a year I am approaching my goal weight too. At any rate, the changes are becoming obvious, and health wise alone, it was without a doubt the best thing I have ever done for myself! You have every right to be very proud...thanks for the inspiration!!! Tell us what you found to be the best thing about the weight loss....

Well Kat, there are so many "best" things, I will tryt and keep it short.

I feel great.

I can wear anything I want to.

I only eat when I am hungry.

I went to speak to a group the other day and I was introduced as beautiful and charismatic.

And probably one of the best things for me is that I am in control of many things, the given is probably food, but the other is alcohol. I don't drink much now because I stay to full to drink. This is a good thing for more reasons than one.

Barbara - You give me hope! I'm still trying to get to a good fill level, so it feels good to hear from people for whom the band has been so successful:-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
