drizzled 0 Posted April 20, 2012 Howdy! I am currently almost 4 weeks out and have been on my mushy diet.. I've noticed that I eat about a cup of mashed potatoes before becoming full.. and I am unsure if this is too much?! I remember reading from others that they could hardly fit more than a few ounces and I was confused as to why I was eating 8oz?! In the morning I have about 1.5-2 scrambled egg whites Any insight would be appreciated <
M2G 1,836 Posted April 20, 2012 Best advice = ALWAYS underfill your sleeve. Weigh and/or measure your food. And when it's gone, it's gone, there is no need for seconds. My NUT said that on a scale of 1 (being like about to pass out from not eating i.e. being hungry) to 10 (being so full you are ready to burst) you should eat until you are about a 4. I think that is excellent advice. I'm 18 months post-op and still weigh and/or measure a lot of my food, just so I know what I'm eating vs. guessing or waiting until I feel full. Hope that helps. Thanks for the quick reply! We had about the same advice as far as that went, and I haven't been full like that since surgery, nor had any vomiting, sliming, etc... I have been measuring as well but really was unsure where I should be. I will reduce it a bit and go from there. (still counting all calories going in as well) I do appreciate the advice<
Sassygirl06 962 Posted April 20, 2012 we are all going to be able to fit different amounts in our sleeves due to the fact that different docs use different bougie sizes. on top of that the docs only change the width of our stomachs, not the length....and everybody has a different length. so that being said...i would definatly measure all of the food first for a while, till you get used to how much makes you feel satisfied and not full. as for me I have noticed that if I am eating meat I get fuller with way less vs eating cottage cheese or yogurt. take it slow and listen to your sleeve....lol.....it will let you know if you are eating to much good luck!
