Holy freaking crap! I got all my Protein in and lemme tell you and am soooo freaking full! It took me an hour and a half to eat the 8oz of chicken that it took to get my protein in, but I did it! Two hard boiled eggs for Breakfast and 8oz of chicken for lunch and I really have no desire to eat ANYTHING for dinner... I have lived on chicken and fish for 15 years (I don't eat red meat or pork) but after today if I never eat another piece of chicken it'll be too soon.

8 oz of chicken is like 2 -1/2 servings. I don't think that is the amount that they would want us to eat. I would think that maybe some greek yogurt for snack in the morning and afternoon and maybe a Protein drink to help so you don't have to eat so much meat but 8 oz is more than a normal person's serving and we should be eating less than normal. Unless I read something wrong.

My sample menu says:

Breakfast: 1/2 c cottage cheese or 1 egg with 1 oz cheese.< /p>

Lunch: 2 oz meat 1/4-1/2c veggies

Snack; Protein shake

Dinner: 3 oz meat 1/4-1/2c veggies

I think that gets 70-75 Protein which is my range.

It wasn't all at once - I've been working on it for an hour and a half - basically from about 1:30-3:00. I was basically taking a bite or two every 15mins or so.

Lilee I think you did a great job. It may take you awhile to eat it but you did it. Way to go

Lilee84,

I had to do a double take! All this time, I thought you were the lovely lady in your avatar.... then the comment about your pre-pregnancy pants confused me! Saw in your profile that you can NOT be that lady!

That's my grandmother. She passed away Tuesday so I changed my pic in her memory.

Oh, I am so very sorry for your loss. A grandparent is such a strong and positive influence in one's life. I know you will miss her and cherish her memory forever.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
