Bariatric Card For Restaurants

Recommended Posts

I know if you have surgery in the states you can receive a card stating so for restaurants! Anyone know if we can get this in mx?

I don't have a card, but I've found that alot of waitstaff seem nonplussed about it and the restaurants are very accomodating. I've had a couple who wern't, and we just won't go there now. At the end of the day, I think they will either accomodate you, or they won't, regardless of whether or not you have a card.

I didn't get any sort of card--I typically just order smaller, or I order something that I know will "keep" well, so we always end up with yummy left-overs. My husband and I are both sleevers, and we've gotten pretty good at ordering for more than one meal (what for other people IS only one meal but for us is more like three!). dressings always on the side to keep salads from wilting, things that will reheat well, etc.

I absolutely LOVE leftovers. I've been eating BBQ all week from a meal I had on Sunday.

Good point about keeping the dressing on the side. Soggy salad grosses me out!

I've never run into any problem at a restaurant. I will order from the senior menu (kid's menu has crap usually), an appetizer, split with my husband or order a full meal and take it home.

The only time I would really show the card is if I happen to be invited to a buffet and I want the child's price. Even that's too much for the amount I eat.

what is a Restaurant Card

It's a card from your doctor informing someone that you've had bariatric surgery and can only eat 3oz of food at a time. You would use this to order from the kids menu or at buffets to get the child rate.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
