New1 201 Posted April 19, 2012 I Am almost 6 weeks out and I had been feeling better week by week but starting this week I have been extremely full and can not eat more than two to three bites of ANYTHING. I can drink ok but no food. I am having the longest period of my life too and I'm constipated. So, I'm not sure how much of a role bloating is playing but I feel terrible and I've thrown up after several "meals". I guess I go back to liquids until this clears? My heartburn is getting worse also. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!
Lissa 2,631 Posted April 19, 2012 If your diet is similar to my post-op diet, you have probably just started regular food. The restriction when you start dense Proteins is INCREDIBLE! I remember only being able to eat 2 or 3 bites and then being SO full. I still can't eat much at one sitting, but I can eat mroe than 2-3 bites. The restriction will ease up as you heal further. Please just try to under-eat your sleeve right now, so that you don't experience the slimes or vomitting and enjoy the weight loss. Good luck!!
Almostthere34 128 Posted April 19, 2012 just peeking in. Lissa, what are slimes?
criney 6 Posted April 19, 2012 Is that the foam and bubbles in the back of your throat?
minaleigh 95 Posted April 19, 2012 I've also been feeling like I get full a lot quicker lately, but I'm almost 5 months out. Maybe it is because of our periods, because it's only happened to me during that time. Theory?
SleeveDreamer 383 Posted April 19, 2012 Slimes is when you have alot of slimy saliva all of a sudden that you keep spiting out. It is usually followed by throwing up just a little. Normally first you get a feeling like you have somethig stuck. This is caused by eating too fast or too much.
clk 3,519 Posted April 19, 2012 Yes, it's fairly normal. Don't backtrack. You have to learn how to eat with your new super restricted stomach. Make up the difference in your diet by sipping Protein shakes when you aren't eating. I did not want to eat again until close to one year out. Now I can actually enjoy eating but it's nothing like it used to be. It's work to get your food in but it's necessary to keep trying. At this point, your best bet is to take one or two bites, let them rest and go back for more if you can fit it. Learning to eat at a slower pace is hard. Signs of being full vary but for me a runny nose still happens if I take a bite or two too many. So do hiccups. Once you learn your body's signs for being full, you'll be able to eat without discomfort, slimes or having to toss up those last bites. Good luck. We all go through this! ~Cheri 1 sherriehoffer reacted to this
New1 201 Posted April 19, 2012 Thanks for the responses guys. The only thing is that I'm not sure im eating anything new or different, meaning I didn't advanced my diet and then start feeling more restriction I'm still doing puréed/soft. I am eating tuna salad and scrambled eggs for the past two weeks (no new Proteins introduced) and I was able to eat 1/3 cup of each last week and only 1-2 bites this week (in 30-45 minutes) so I'm still a little confused which is my only rationale for doing liquids for a day or so. I'm trying to listen to my sleeve and I'm not sure it's telling me to eat slower, it feels more like don't eat! I mean I just woke up and I feel like I have already eaten a whole turkey I'm so bloated and full and I haven't eaten since 6pm yesterday.
