hit my plateau

Recommended Posts

I was losing 8 to 10 pounds a month and since my unfill I have only lost maybe 2 pounds if I'm lucky, what am I doing wrong? I haven't eaten any more than the last month and I have been excersing more. I am very depressed and keep thinking I won't lose anymore when I was doing so well. Has this happened to anyone esle? I see the doctor next week and will ask her for a small fill just to see if that will help, I hope it does. I thought I would hit onderland this month but at this time I haven't. Any words of wisdom out there? :cry

I just recently spoke with my doc about this topic. He said you have to mix things up when you start to slow down. Eat some different foods and try some more intense exercises. Are you training with any weights? Your body simply becomes accustomed to the same old exercises and the effects become less over time. You can train an old dog new tricks and I think that's what you need to try! Good luck, you can break out of this plateau-I believe in ya!

I had an unfill because I had too much at the time. Everything I ate just came back and wouldn't stay down. I will try different things for food and excercise to see if that will work. I am going to start making smoothies in the morning and adding my Protein I haven't been getting and see if that works. Also for excersise I am adding dance classes so I won't be doing the same all the time. I do need to add some weights to the mixture maybe that will help also. Thanks for the advice

I'm guessing the slow in weight loss is your unfilled, I too when unfilled 3 months I didnt lose not one pound but neither gained.

I am slowly working my fills now I don't lose as fast as before but 2 years after I expected it to slow down, As long as I don't gain :(

Great, your new plan sounds very good!

Do you think you've shyed away from the whole band thing because of your bad experiences? (Not being able to keep food down.) If so, I can understand. But, I can also say that if you can get a proper fill level then I think it will be better for you this time around. Luckily for me I've got restriction and have never had a PB or slime so it is possible to hit a good fill level. But, I'd be shy of this whole experience if I was having problems keeping food down too. Good luck to you and you're on the right track again!

You must be doing something right you already lost 94 lbs. in a short time. Since the operation I have had trouble with pain in my chest while I eat and then I have to leave and puke :( most of the time I can't eat anything else until the whole meal has come back up. This is the part I don't like but I wouldn't go back. I think my problem is I wait to eat until I am so hungry that I don't chew my food enough and it gets caught so I am trying to eat mushie food until I can get a better handle on my chewing. It seems as I start eating anything even Soup it hurts going down and I don't know what causes that. I will be asking the doctor about most of this at my appointment on Wenesday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
