I'd anyone have stitches in their largest incision? Mine did not and I'm pretty sure I'll have a not so pretty scar because of that. I'm just wondering why my doctor didn't stitch it up.

Still not complaining though...a scar is better than a chubby belly. :]

Someone in my dr's preop educational class suggested getting silicone scar sheets to put over your scars. They work better than mederma per the girl that said this. They are also expensive lil buggers... like $25 for 4 in a package, I got them from Walgreens. I got a leak after my first surgery so due to my complications, I got scared and havent' tried them yet... but maybe look it up and see if those would help with your scars.

And yes, I did have a stitch in my largest incision but it's healed up better than the one on my right that had a JP in it. Looks like a durn dimple on my abdomen. But better than that muffin top for sure! lol

I am 3 weeks post op, I did not have stitches. My doc used the glue and tape and mine have healed beautifully.

For the large incision, I have a couple of stitches on the inside, but not on the out. I am 3 weeks post op and that is the slowest healing scar. I'm using Mederna , but can't yet on that large incision or the hole from the JP tube. I think, over all, things will heal up pretty well.

My doc used glue. My larger incision still hurts but the others are fine.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
