Guest SmplyCyn Posted May 31, 2004 Hi everyone, I am a newly banded (2 wks today).. and wanted to introduce myself. I am 42, live on the west coast of Florida, married, 3 nearly grown children (depending on the day). I have tried probably every 'diet' under the sun and a few under the moon too! I started really researching the Lap-Band in March of this year, and things moved quickly from there... I know that I am still a new Bandster, but already... I am loving it! Guest ChristineS Posted June 5, 2004 I am also new to bandland. I had surgery last Friday and am dow 11 pounds already. Pre-surgery weight was 266. My husband had gastric bypass 7 weeks ago and has had great success. I am so happy to have chosen the band.
Guest SmplyCyn Posted June 5, 2004 Christine, Welcome to Bandland.. isn't it wonderful? I have not 'officially' weighed myself since surgery.. that comes at the doctor's office on Tuesday - first Post-OP appt (22 days Post-OP). I think, between 15-20, according to my scale, my doctor tells me that his scale is the only one that matters anymore. Congrats on your hubby's surgery too.. it is interesting that you both chose different procedures. Keep in touch. Cindy 5/17/04 Dr. Grossbard 243/?

Guest SmplyCyn Posted June 6, 2004 Kathy, Thanks for the welcome! I am happy to be in Bandland.... Just curious, when did you doctor have you move on to soft foods? Cindy
not2big42long 0 Posted June 6, 2004 Hi Cindy, He let me eat soft foods as I could tolerate them. At two weeks I was eating soft foods but still was restricted from the swelling from the surgery so I couldn't consume much. Just don't push it, this is the time for healing. Make sure you are getting enough Protein and fluids. The Protein helps with the healing process. I found the Protein shakes really helpful and filling. Has your appetite come back yet? My came back with a vengence around the fifth week post-op. Thats a good sign you've healed and you are getting ready for your first fill. Take Care, Kathy
Guest SmplyCyn Posted June 6, 2004 Kathy, Oh my appetite is back! My first post-op is this Tuesday (22 days).. I hope that they schedule my first fill soon.. because I don't want to take the chance of eating too much! I am tolerating soft food with no problems... I just am getting the 'what happens if this band isn't going to work for me' feeling from time to time... which I know is normal and will go away when I get a good fill... good luck to you, sounds like you are doing well.
