Fuller Foods????

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I need some help. I have been STARVING for about 3 days. I am holding strong and not had any Cookies, fast food, ect. I tell my tummy NO NO NO! But the growls are begining to overshadow thoughts...

I am just beginning to eat smooshies. What can I eat that is good for me but will last longer with that fuller feeling? I have added protien to everything..lol..

Does anyone have anything that just hits the spot? (I can not wait until I am able to get a first fill....)

Your blender is now going to become your best friend.

One of the things that helped me so much was blending some protein-rich Soups. Like chicken noodle Soup, or black bean Soup. If it is too thick (you should be able to to drink through a straw - not that you need to), thin it down with broth or milk. Getting something that tasted like real food helped.

Something else, think of growling this way. It's not really your stomach at all. food doesn't stay in your actual stomach very long. It's your bowels. Things are different now and they make a lot more noise. I still have lots of growling going on.

When were you banded? It would help us tell you what to eat.

Hi Brandy,

I take a spicy chunky Soup like chicken and sausage heat it then put a spoon of cottage cheese in it then blend. It makes a nice thick cream soup that has good flavor. I am still on liquids but this works for me.

Another helpful hint I was given that helped (and I agree, ignore those grumbly noises!) was to keep something going all the time...sip, sip, sip. While you are doing liquids/mushies, just make your intake a little more frequent, to keep the hungries at bay.

I was banded on the first, so I am just into mushies. It isn't the growling so much that bothers me, it is the absolute hunger. (or my tummy thinking so!) Thanks for the help!

I drank a glass of Water before my mushie meal and waited l-l/2 hours after my "meal" before drinking again. The trick is to keep the mushies in your tummy as long as you can. Fluids wash it out quickly!

Count your calories!!! Mushies can be fattening. Eat slow and savor each bite.

Remember--mushies aren't forever!

I like taking ricota cheese, low fat, healthy choice spaghetti sauce, mozarella cheese and making a lasagna layer without the noodles. I also add spinach and mushrooms on one of the layers. You can use cottage cheese instead of ricota. It fills me up fast.

I am in the full liquid stage, and today for lunch had a serving of hummus and it was SOOOO good! The best thing I have had since my surgery last Monday and I feel really satisfied. I also think it has plenty of Protein.< /p>

Cream of wheat-filled me up for hours. I have also been carrying around sugar-free hard candies in my purse. When the growling starts (especially in the store) I pop one of those in and it gives my mouth something to do and they taste great. I like Werther's sugar-free caramel hard candy the best.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
