My name is Hutch - I have a tentative date of May 9th with Dr Aceeves in Mexi -Cali

I am a truck driver and struggle with weight loss so I have made the decision to be sleeved.

I am nervous but not scared. I have been 100 lbs overweight for the last 10 years and I have tried every diet imaginable - and they work for a minute and then fail. I have no one to blame but myself. I have diabetes, sleep apnea, asthma and planter faciatias in my feet which causes me alot of pain. I hope and pray that after the surgery with time these conditions that I mention will go away.

I recently got married to a beautiful woman that was sleeved in Janurary,2010- and when she said that I needed to get a passport I thought she was excited about going on vacation but little did I know she had other plans - I am happy though because I feel that this is the best decision for me and for us to live a long and healthy life together.

If you all will join me in my upcoming journey I would greatly appreciate all of ur help and support.

Thank you and God bless,

Hutch

Hi Hutch! You've come to a good place. Sounds like you and your bride are very lucky to have one another. I am about 3 weeks post op and already I've noticed a HUGE difference with my feet pain/heel spurs.

Good luck to you! Keep us posted!

I am a little over 12 weeks I had type 2 diabeties bout 15 yrs. the day I left the hospital was the last day I took any pills or insulin. I had lab work last week and my blood sugar was 114. My high blood pressure is also better controlled so for me the reason for the surgery is done! The weight loss is a double bonus!! Good luck to you!

Had my surgery one month ago yesterday. And today I walked over 1/2 mile. It has been MANY years since I could walk that far! I was just barely out of breath and not hurting like I usually am at less than one tenth of a mile!

Hutch,

Had my VSG on 4/12 by Dr Aceves. Everything went great and it was a great experience. The whole group of people there were awesome. You'll be fine and in perfect hands. I am recovering very well with minimal to no pain. Message me if you want any info or have any questions!

Congrats on your decision and prayers your way!

Hi Hutch, I noticed your pic, I have the same one on another sit. I'm a truck driver too. I was scheduled for the end of the year but decided on

June after my sons wedding.

We both know first hand all the changes that are happening in are industry. If we don't get a handle on our health we'll be out of a job.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
