loly13 16 Posted April 17, 2012 Hello fellow sleevers, Today I am 6 months out and down 80 lbs....yay me!!! What I'm starting to hear from people besides how much I'm shrinking is...stand up straight. The past month is seems my posture has gone from good to bad. I am now slouching all/most of the time and I don't even realize it until someone points it out to me. I do notice that sometimes my upper back aches and I know its because of the slouching. Is this common? Have any of you experience this? Is this related to the weightloss? Does anyone know? Thanks for you input. Lola
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted April 17, 2012 I do slouch too! I know that in the beginning it was a way to protect my stomach. But I have no reason to protect my stomach anymore, but I always find myself slouching when at the computer and sitting. As I was reading your post, I was slouching. I really need to work on strengthening my core and that means I need to exercise. So after my dehydration gets straighten out, I will hit the gym and hire a personal trainer again. 1 PdxMan reacted to this
PdxMan 4,292 Posted April 17, 2012 I believe Dorrie has the right of it. I lost a lot of muscle mass through all of this. I think it is difficult not to lose some. Depending on exercise level and rate of loss, some may lost more than others. With that muscle loss, it will be difficult for your body to support itself the way it did. ShapeShifter 64 Posted April 17, 2012 I get a catalog called foot solutions, and oddly enough, it has a section that offers different kinds of back support, to help keep your shoulders pulled back and chest lifted. Perhaps you can buy some support to help while you rebuild your core muscles.
mesaucedo 207 Posted April 17, 2012 I noticed why I slouch. I haven't lost much weight yet so I still have my big round tummy and I kind of lean on it or something. I slouch to the point where it supports me! I just noticed that the other day.
lsereno 2,525 Posted April 17, 2012 Boy, I heard this from everyone starting about 6 months out till just recently. I really think the way we stand, walk, and move is affected by how much we weighed for so long. As my weight dropped i had to consciously learn to walk with my legs closer together (no more fat holding them apart), stand up straight, sit straight, and sit down/stand up/bend over differently. I also noticed I held my arms out from my body I bit when I walked. It really does feel different without all that extra weight! Lynda
Catracks 865 Posted April 17, 2012 Come to think of it, I am slouching too! This is a good motivation to start exercising. No real exercise up to now. Can you believe it? What a lazy sod I've been.
