Suggestions For Drinking Your Water Everyday.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone how are you doing?confused.gif

I have a suggestion for drinking more Water. After 3 ½ years, I found that some days I really was forgetting to drink all the water that I needed to drink each day so that my body would function like it should. It is so imperative to drink all your water each day.applause.gif

I don’t think you recognize all of the problems that dehydration can case you. Here are just a few: Dehydration can lead to nausea, vomiting, weakness. You can get into a vicious cycle with the loss of fluids, as the more dehydrated you get, the less you may be able to take by mouth. This may require hospitalization so that Intravenous hydration can be provided. On the scope of importance fluids are #1. It is very important not to fall behind on fluids. dancing.gif

I stopped and thought if I had my water with me all the time and saw it sitting there, I would drink more & for me that is just what I have been doing these last few weeks. I purchased 4 really nice Tumbles. The tumbler is double walled, 22 oz. acrylic BPA free with a silicone seal on the twist off lid & to help prevent leaks. It also has an acrylic straw. This is such a great tumbler. If you want to know where I purchased it On Line it was QVC. I fill mine with water and have been mixing all kinds of flavors of Crystal Light. These tumblers are for cold drinks only. I enjoy them because I get NO condensation as the tumbler sits. So for me it has really helped me to keep drinking water all day long. Plain water works great too. heart.gif

You have to find what works best for you. I do understand how very hard it is after you first have had your weight loss surgery to drink all the water. It is difficult to get all the liquids down and the Protein too. I just want you to try to do the best you can. It really is like having a job & you have to work at it. If you have it with you all the time, it makes it a little easier to accomplish drinking your water.heehee.gif

Hugs,

Suzanne

Hi Suzanne, the tumbler sounds like the perfect once I've been looking for...do you have the name or web address where I can find it?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
