Anyone Have A "strange" Relationship With Their Vitamins

Recommended Posts

Dooter what brand of vitiamins did u get? Where did u find them?

I got Bariatric Advantage that I ordered online, and they are WRETCHED! The only ones I kept are the whole pills, like the Vitamin D and B12. I gave away the chewable multis and chewable Calcium. BLECH. I ended up going to the store and got some chewable prenatal Vitamins to tide me over til I found a more suitable bariatric formula. Now that I can swallow whole pills, I'll be looking for something like that. My doc said anything the size of an M&M is ok, so I may have to cut the pills.

I want to try the ones Stacey131 has!

Silly question... Can u take chewables 1-2 weeks post op? My nut said just Protein, meds and clear liquids? My discharge papers say continue with multivitamin? Advise????

I was told to take chewables almost right away. Even though I was on liquids. Just chew them until they ARE liquid in your mouth. Use a good bariatric quality Vitamin.

I wish I felt that way also. I purchased Celebrate bariatric Vitamins and they make me physically I'll. They are free to a good home. I had to order capsules...I hope they go down easily.

What flavored do you have? I may be interested! Thanks

I wasn't allowed to start Vitamins until after week 2, and then only half the dose. The next week moving up to two Vitamins, calciums, and b-12. My nut was concerned how my stomach could handle it and told me if there was any problem to discontinue as I wasn't ready for that yet. But no probs so far.

The multi-complete chewable has Iron and comes in a Forest berry Flavor. The Calcium Plus 500 are Orange Burst. My doc thinks my new pouch is just still a little sensitive so she suggested the capsules for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
