I definitely have an easier time with warm or hot beverages than cold (surgery was on Friday) how long until I can stomach cold drinks again? Right now I feel like cold drinks quadruple the gas in my stomach!

yes, cold drinks will cramp your tummy big time. . .every one is different, so your tolerance to cold drinks will depend on you. . . i'm out 3 years, i definately can drink cold drinks, but man if i drink it on an empty tummy, look out, cramps and pain for about 10 - 15 minutes. . just progress slowly, and definately no gulping! sip sip sip your cold drinks and take time between sips. . . Good luck!

Everyone is different...Cold drinks were much easier for me to tolerate right after surgery. All my drinks had to have ice in them or I couldn't drink them. I still like cold drinks and I am almost a year out. I also enjoy drinking hot tea so both hot and cold are fine for me.

Take it slow and one day I am sure cold drinks will work for you again.

I'm a month out and find cold to be what I'm craving all the time. I was never a hot drink drinker though. I do agree with what was said before. Cold on an empty tummy does cause cramping and queasiness in me still. I don't usually drink anything when I wake up. I'll have my first drink of the day after Breakfast or a light snack.< /p>

I definitely liked warm drinks right after surgery. Cold drinks caused my stomach to cramp up. Anyways, I couldn't drink Hot Drinks like tea because it irritated my stomach. It did get better around 3 months post op. Keep sipping and walking and that will assist in healing. ;)

I never really cramped up from cold drinks, but if I drank to much at one time, it felt like a ton of bricks hit my stomach & hard!!! So sip, sip, sip & slowly! I drank room temp. Water for a few days... now I can drink both hot & cold just sips though. NO straws & no carbonation! Good luck...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
