3 Months Out..am I On Target?

Recommended Posts

I've lost 50 lbs so far... sleeved 1/23/12 ... I'd like to know what others have lost in comparison. Am I on target? Am I slow??? Just kind of curious. Thanks in advance for your replies!

I was sleeved 1/30/12 and have lost 52 total, 15 of which were prior to surgery. I know I'm slower than others, but try not to compare myself too much. It will make you crazy. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

We all lose at different rates depending on what you are doing (biking, running, walking, sitting and so on). I was sleeved December 12, 2011 so far I have lost about 78lbs, averaging about 8-10lbs a week, but the last 3 weeks have been very slow if at all (1-3lbs a week) but I was unable to get to the gym during that time and eating bad choices (vending machine food and take out) as I was on the go. There are many things that will effect the amount you lose as I have expressed.

You are doing awesome congrats on the 50lbs :) . Welcome to the group and keep up the losing.

I just wanted to gage others experience with the sleeve. Sometimes I feel like that is a lot of weight to lose so quickly then other times I think maybe I should be further along. Am I stalled? I'm not rushing the process. At this point I feel like the person in the back seat enjoying the scenic road trip. I'm taking it all in and having a good time on the way to my destination.

I was just wondering because when I think about it I didn't become active until actually this month. Before that I wasn't really working out or aiding my sleeve so I guess I am doing okay.

Reaching your weight goal is kind of like being rich vs being wealthy. It's not how much money you make, its how long you make and maintain that money... this also applies to losing weight. Keep on pushing, and congrats for those 52 pounds closer to your goal. BLESS, Success, and Good Lukk. -Lukki

I've lost 59 pounds in three months and am sitting on my arse. I HAVE to start exercising to try to help this floppy skin thing.

I also had surgery on 1/30 and have lost 45 lbs. (10 of those lbs were on pre-op). I have not exercised but have sure had so much more energy and spending a lot more time spring cleaning my house. Someone had suggested using myfitnesspal.com to track your food and exercise. I just signed on to it yesterday and I am excited about using this tool. It is free also.

I have read so many posts lately about slow losers to where I think we are actually the norm. But hey, 45 lbs. in three months...I wouldn't say that is really a slow loser. Keep up the good work! We can do this!

I figure any loss is a good loss! I need to exercise more too, but the weight is still coming off... Good luck!

I think as long as it's fairly steady...the amount is fine.

I had surgery on 1/28/12. I've lost 51 lbs & also feel like a slow loser at times. I've had a couple long stalls which can be very discouraging. That said I've done no excercising, so I know I really need to step it up! I love swimming laps & Water aerobics but despite the fact I live in a pretty big city (Phoenix) the closest gym w/ a pool is quite a ways away & with my kids crazy.schedules it seems impossible to go there very often. My back is really messes up & I'm supposed to have surgery but my husband took 3 wks off when I got sleeved so its gonna be awhile until I can have another surgery. I know I'm full of excuses lol, but I'm truly not sure what to do for exercise!! Anyone have any suggestions??

Anyway, o think youre doing great!!! Keep up the good work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
