Bummed - 67 Pounds Lost And I Look Just The Same

Recommended Posts

I can even still fit into my original clothes! I don't remember it being like this on the way up. I remember all my clothes getting tighter as I went up from size to size.

I see threads where people have lost 50 pounds or less and have shrunk up to 5 clothing sizes. Not me, I feel like I am destined to be fat regardless of how much weight I actually lose. This is so depressing.

Don't listen to your mood, be realistic. It is simply not possible to lose 67 pounds and not be any different. You may be gaining is muscle mass, which is more dense and heavy than fat. There is an explanation, and - whatever it is - it is positive. I just know you're going to wake up one moring in the near future, look in the mirror and say "Wow!" Like so many other things in this program, this is just a phase.

Don't beat yourself up. I didn't see a big difference until I got to 55-60 lbs lost and then I pretty much skipped a size. I started at 18W, 16W, 16 and am now in size 14 after 77 lbs lost. I only wore size 16 for a couple of weeks and wow, they were suddenly too big. My size 14 are just now getting a little big. Every body shape is different. I carry my weight in my hips so I will never probably be smaller than a size 10-12. As long as you know the numbers and you feel great, be proud of yourself.

I lost 70 pounds doing southbeach two years ago. I came to a revelation that might help you. Plus size clothing is different than regular sizes. I can wear plus sizes for a differentiation of like 20 pounds, but my skinny friends need new sizes within a 5~10 pound difference. You need to focus on other nsv. How do you feel? Can you sit more comfortably, say in an airplane seat? You're doing amazing, you will drop sizes shortly.

Don't get down on yourself. 67 lbs OMG

sounds like as you got bigger before, your clothes were too tight (which would only make sense). Now that you weigh so much less - you fit into those clothes better. Not tight anymore because you lost all that weight. Sounds funny, maybe you just don't remember how you fit in clothes, and don't realize how much better they look now. Soon, you will see those sizes go down.

Don't worry, causing yourself to go crazy and depressed. Things will work out. Your clothes will "adjust" you lost 67 lbs. girlfriend, you will see results.

OMG 67 lbs is terrific, you are doing great, no matter what your clothes temporarily say.

You must calm down, you don't want to get so upset that you will return to bad habits.

good luck, you'll be fine

You have the same problem I have. I hate taking pictures because I am so unhappy with how I look. You have to start taking picture now, otherwise you won't be able to see the difference. I am sure you look fabulous. As you have lost 67 lbs, you definitely look different. Congrats on your loss! Please Celebrate your success. I know it was not easy.

Thanks everyone! My clothes do feel looser, but I can still wear them. Other than that, I don't feel or look any different. My family says it looks like I have lost. I just honestly cannot see it no matter how hard I try. I feel like my original fat self and can't wait until I see some change in myself.

I had a very high starting weight. So high that I don't even want to share it. I guess when you start that big it takes more pounds to notice a change. I won't give up, I just needed a pep talk. :)

I'm a bit confused, i just read your post in NOT AT ALL WHAT I EXPECTED - In the post you were 11 days out, unless i misunderstood what you wrote. This was post #17 alittle confused?

tell your gastric sleeve surgery" is where i read the earlier post

I must have misunderstood something from the earlier post

Thanks. After I posted, I started wondering if that's even what you were talking about. My surgery date should show on my profile.

Because of my high BMI, I was required to lose weight prior to getting my surgery date. Then, I was on a 2-week-liquid diet pre-op diet. Since surgery, I have lost 17 pounds. I had lost a nice round 50 pounds as of my surgery day.

It still totals 67 pounds and I really wish it felt more like it. It's very hard watching people that are just starting out and only have that much, or a little more, to lose. It makes me wonder how I let myself get to this point. Thankful it's heading in the other direction now at least.

I lost about the same amount of weight a coyple years back, and I remember being able to wear many of my same clothes! Recently, I looked at pics, and I couldnt believe how big they were on me. It takes our brain a while to catch up with our body. I would suggest taking a picture monthly, and taking yoyr measurements weekly. I guarantee you will see changes

I'm sure they're much looser on you. I don't know about you, but my entire wardrobe consists of stretchy stuff with elastic waists, and big, loose tops. So, it's easier to lose a lot and still "fit" in that type of clothing,

I bet if you went out to try on new stuff you'd find that you can fit into lower sizes. Maybe you need to take a shopping day and try on some stuff. Even if you don't buy anything, I bet you could see the changes when you put on smaller sizes and wear more form-fitting clothing.

You are right where I am with your sleeve dat I believe? Like end of March? I've lost almost 20 lbs, so your loss is OMG. I have a good friend who had a very high starting weight as well. She lost almost 100 lbs before other started noticing the change and her clothes sizes changed. It'll come, you just might have a longer journey than other. How do your hands look? ankles and wrists? Face? Those are the places most people see it first. I know I'm scrutinizign myself daily to see some sign of loss. No one else notices yet, but I can see it and my clothes are much more comfortable! It'll come!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
