Ready for the new Lay-Lay 8 Posted April 14, 2012 I had my 4 hour consultation with my doc and his assistant. I was given a binder (I call it my sleeve bible). It explains the surgery, pre op and post op diet. Foods to avoid, a list of food to get for pre op and post op. Suggestions of Protein Shakes, Vitamins, etc. It is very very helpful. I feel so much better now, that binder will be my saving grace along with this site. So at the end of the 4 hours, I was told that I need to loose a minimum of 10 pounds or he will cancel the surgery. I think I will just start on my post op diet now, to get my mind and body ready. I need to get in a routine now. I am positive about this weight loss, my surgery will not be cancelled over something that is in MY CONTROL. I am taking control of my body and especially the food that I put in it. Ok, so my date is June 4th. It is tentative because of the assistant surgeon that has to be there. She is out of the office for a week. If her schedule is free then that will be my date, if not I will have a new date. I started this journey in July of last year. I have went through negative family members, semi-supportive husband, PCP refusing to sign my letter, my insurance saying I need a 6 month diet, then changing it mind. Now I am listening to noone but myself. I know that I desperately need this, I am not going to keep saying that my weight is hereditary. I am not going to call it baby weight (my daughter is 9 going on 16!!!). I am not going to plan work, school and stress. Im like the biggest loser saying NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!! So wish me luck on my new journey.
fancypants 14 Posted April 14, 2012 Congratulations on taking control of your life. I am 2 years post surgery and down from a size 22 to an 8, seriously an 8. I never thought that was possible. My husband wasn't in complete agreement on my surgery either, I think more scared. Now he knows I am healthy and is very happy for me. Not to mention, some people think he had a new younger hot wife. For me, I drink at least one can of Pure Protein in frosty chocolate a day. Sometimes it's hard to find, but is the best tasting product I found. I think it only has 125 calories, but 30 grams of protein or so. One day at a time, you can do it. Trust me, once I was past the age of 50, I thought it was all over for me. If I did it, anyone can! 1 Ready for the new Lay-Lay reacted to this
