Hello!!!

I was sleeved 4/3/12.

My first post op dr app is Monday which I'm really excited about!!

The last time I weighed I had lost 14 lbs(not gonna weigh again til dr visit).

I havn't had any vomiting.

Had a little nausea right after surgery.

I'm only getting in 56 oz of Water at this point.(still working on getting more in)

I'm probably gonna be going back to work next week

I'm up to walking 1&1/2 miles per day

Still working on getting in at least 70 g Protein .

I havnt tried mashed potatoes yet. I should be able to start those Tuesday!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I was sleeved on 4/11/12. I'm doing fairly well too. Not really any complications. I'm taking pain meds about 2times per day. I gave nausea med if I need it. I tried soft boiled eggs and mash potatoes. I'm going to wait a few more days before trying again. I'm getting about 48 oz of Water but drinking hot tea muscle milk etc. I'm taking off next week actually I will work from home 1/2 days. I'm glad to have people to talk to through this. Should I start walking already?????

Me too! April 9th (day after Easter no less).

Me too...sleeved on April 9th. Had a few rough days, but it's slowly starting to get easier.

After a diffucult attempt at Protein shakes, I had decided to focus on Clear liquids and staying hydrated for a few more days. Then a pleasant surprise occurred today when I tried a sample packet of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavor Protein powder mix. it's very light and brothy and easy to get down. Tastes pretty good too! I was able to get down the whole 8 oz in about an hour (that's 21g of protein) with no problem at all. I ordered a container immediately. I'm excited to find something that works for my new sleeve!

Looking forward to keeping up with everyone's progress. Best wishes to you all'

Why have you got to be on liquids that long?? Is that per your dr orders? I'm ready for mushies too!!! ;)

Yes it's per my surgeons orders. It sucks because I don't really care for sweets that much and I am eating sweet shakes sweet Vitamins and for variety sweet crystal light or popsicles! I have had chicken broth so that helps. But I am pleased with my weight loss so far so I guess I can make it one more week till mushies.

My surgery was on April 11 having the same problem

Hi. I hear ya. I was sleeved on the 11th also. Protein shakes are not as easy as they were pre surgery. I tried Tony Robb which is a palatable brand, especially chocolate. But my suggestion to you is that you can thin the shake down with more Water. Hope that helps.

It is....challenging. I've always been a bit of a maverick all my life and finding it hard to follow the "rules". They are there for a reason, though. I've learned through trial and error what I can do - and it's only been two weeks. Seems like just yesterday i was eating what I wanted without a second thought. There were many times where, after a meal, I'd say "did I really just eat all of that?!"...those days are gone now, but the urge to turn to food out of habit, boredom (nostalgia?) is still strong. My family is aware I did the procedure, as is my gf, but no one else. I am a little concerned about not eating in front of her, too. She is already self conscious about her weight and she fears that when I lose mine, I'll lose interest in her. So much going on at once. It's definitely been more challenging than I had imagined it would be. Good thing is my scars are heLing up nicely, and no complications at all. Also down 16 lbs since the day of surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
