Water Bottle

Recommended Posts

I've always had a water bottle or cup with a straw so I need to get something I can have with me after surgery that doesn't have a straw. I've heard the straw is a bad idea because it allow one to swallow air. Do you think the Water bottles with the built in straw would work or would they too allow me to suck in air? See an example of what I'm talking about here: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11367011&cp=2291414.2291416&view=all&parentPage=family

Thanks for any words of advice.

I threw away all of my old Water bottles pre-op. My thinking is that they are a straw and they hold air which you have to such in first so I didnt think I should use them.

My NUT said its not the straw per see, but its easier to gulp with it. Use it like a sipper it should be no problem.

Thanks y'all. I did find one that has the straw in it but you can take it out and it becomes a sipper. That may be the way to go especially since I might forget to drink slower.

I think using a straw is much nicer when trying to drink Protein Shakes, especially if you make them into real shake consistency. I Haven't had any problems with excess gas due to this either.

I am 4 weeks out and have used the Camelbak brand bottle you pictured since I was released from the hospital with absolutely no problems. Your experience may differ. That brand uses a bite valve to control flow, rather than a sucking motion.

I discovered exactly what you said about that Water bottle and am going to get one. Thanks!

Check out the Blender Bottle. I picked up two from Sprawl Mart. Flip top, opening is perfect for sipping, and it has a nifty little removable metal blender ball. Great for when it takes hours to sip 20 oz of Protein drink and stuff settles to the bottom.

Every liquid that was brought to me in the hospital came with a straw. I have used one since day one. I can't drink without one.

my doc said straws are just fine, i used one since day 1 post op, i find that i drink more if i use one, and if i drink without it i tend to gulp my Water, so i drink from a tumbler with a straw.

I tend to be a fast drinker....especially with a straw. However, postop, the straw might be an advantage. I have straw Water bottles so I think I'm gonna get one without so I have both options for whatever works best. Thanks!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
