Am 10 weeks post op and lost 56lbs but my problem I having for the past week is not having much restriction like I used too , is this normal only 10 weeks post op

And it seems I can eat a little more , can the sleeve stretch ?

Has any one else found this a problem also i stall for the past two weeks , so worried my sleeve has stopped working as it used too

The sleeve can stretch a little, not much - especially if you aren't continuously pushing it. The part of our stomachs left isn't the part that's stretchy.

You could have had some residual swelling that gave you extra restriction, that's now gone. You could also just be reaching a point where you have slightly more capacity.

There's really no such thing as the sleeve stopping working. It's reduced in size. That's how it works, and it's permanent. It doesn't have a mechanical component that can fail, and it wasn't working digestive voodoo that ran out or anything.

Stalls are a part of weightloss. 10ish weeks is a fairly common time to stall, as is 3ish weeks. When I used to reply to stall posts from newbies with lapbands, I'd tell them to expect a stall around 3-4 weeks and another around 10-12 weeks. You are also going to have weights were your body wants to stay, that are probably higher than your target weight.

As the wise Wheetsin said, your stomach swelling has pretty much gone all the way down now, so there will be that extra room which you didn't feel immediately post surgery. You also can tolerate foods with it hurting, so, where before you took a couple bites and waited or stopped because of discomfort, you now take another bite. It is all normal and fine.

But one thing that can cause increased quantity is fluids while eating, whether it be directly through having a glass of water/juice/whatever, or by having meals which contain liquids: Soups or already mushy stuff: hummus, refried Beans ... Also, are you eating the lean Protein first?

These are things that are going to change how you feel the restriction. Use MyFitnessPal to track everything you are eating so you can take a look back.

Back to basics ... avoid fluids half an hour before & after and of course, during. Know that you can eat more (size) soup/salads than you can tuna.< /p>

If you want to feel the most restriction, this has worked for me.

so my question is being in the full liquid stage how much is too much? I have 2 Protein shakes / day. one when I wake up and the other around 8pm . inbetween i drink my required Water and have 4oz of blended Soup or 4 oz of pureed carrots. I have been very mindful not to eat any white carbs (grits, mashed potato). but today I am hungry... not just head hungry. This is the first time I have felt like tearing the fridge apart. I already had my Soup today... can I have something else also. I am only like 10 days out

Why not have more Soup? It is only a liquid with minimal calories. Even some more carrots, they have nearly no calories. Good luck to you.

Don't worry about counting calories or carbs at this point. You just had 85% of your stomach removed. You are not going to get in too many calories. Least of your worries. Like Kimmy says, have more Soup. Have another Protein shake. Grab a popsicle or two.

Again, 85% of your stomach removed ... an excess of 3,500 calories make up 1 pound of weight gain ... do you really think you are at risk?

The weight will come off ... trust me.

If your hungry, then have some Soup or pureed foods. I personally liked pudding that was sugar free and yogurts. They filled me up. As PDXman stated, don't worry about the calories at this point, it practically impossible to go over the limit. Sit back, take a deep breath, and relax. You are doing fine. ;)

@pdxman- glad you say that since you are an experienced sleever!!! I have only been sleeved for 1.5 months now and don't count calories/carbs. I figured at this point im bareley eating anything anyhow! Of course I eat mostly Protein at every meal and make it the first part of every meal!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
