Worried About Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :)

This monday (4/16) will be three weeks since my VSG surgery. The first two weeks I was having some complications and couldn't keep anything down. I lost 25lbs. Within the past week I have started to keep some soft food down but I gained 1lb and haven't lost any weight in the past week. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm getting so worried that I won't loose anymore weight!!!!

You are doing great, dont worry, completely normal to have stalls. I have had several, I mix up my routine a bit and start losing again. 25 lbs so far is a great loss! Are you exercising? If so, maybe change it a bit , maybe add a bit more food ans see what happens. Good luck and keep us posted. :D

....And, if you were getting super sick, you may just have been dehydrated. Once you started keeping food down, that 1lb might have been water! Hang in there.

I wish I had lost 25 lbs by now! I'm 3 weeks in too... only down 13. I lost those 13 in the first week and nothing since. I feel your frustration. Everyone keeps insisting that I need to just be patient, that this is a stall and I will lose more, but it's hard to do! Hang in there, it's scientifically impossible that neither of us will lose any more.

I haven't started excersizing at all yet. I have just been kind of tired and weak...and getting used to not eating is really hard for me!

Just keep doing what you are doing. Walking is an excellent form of exercise. Until your surgeon releases you to do more strenous exercise. I hit stalls all the time. They go just as quickly as they come. Try to be patient the loss will start up again. I was in a stall for a month and bam! The scale started moving again. liquids are our friend. Be sure to get plenty of fluids in. Don't skip meals and be sure to get in the Protein too.

Good luck!! :)

Deb

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
