Down 66 Pounds In 5 Months

Recommended Posts

I am totally thrilled with my weight loss! I started working out more regularly now but it's almost like my weight loss has slowed down. Maybe it's just because it'll do that at 5 months? Maybe I need to get more Protein or calories? Any advice?

I eat about 900 calories a day on average. 60g of protein from meat sources/day. Plain Water intake is only about six cups/day, which I know it should be more but at times it almost makes me feel sick. Feels like my guts are sloshing around. I walk a mile three times/wk at a good pace. I take my Vitamins as prescribed. I highly doubt that I building a big muscle mass, just mild toning.

What's up?

I would try to up your calories to around 1200 a day. Since you are working out you are burning calories and if your body does not get enough it will go into "starvation mode" and you wont lose weight as your body will hold onto all the fat. I read that by upping your calories a few hundred or so will jump start the weight loss again and since your working out you dont have to worry about gaining weight! Good luck and congrats on your weight loss so far.

Along with bumping up the calories, drink a lot more Water. You need more water due to your working out! Keep it up and switch it around. Keep your body guessing. Eat Proteins, veggies and little starches in this order. This should help. ;)

As wierd as it sounds and im not sure if you can tolerate it (i havent been sleeved yet) but i also read that having a glass of chocolate milk after a workout is good for your muscles. This would give you the extra couple hundred calories you might need and give Calcium...its a thought! i know some people become lactose intolerant after they are sleeved. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
