2nd Day pre -surgery diet

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I am on my second day of my 10 day pre-surgery diet

I woke up this morning and said to myself,"oh it's saturday chinese tonight"

Yeah right, how much food is such a part of my waking thoughts

I can just feel a scream starting to form in my gut

I am afraid I will go crazy when I can't eat what I want

I went to a support group just to meet some other banders and they assured me yes, a scream may be in order, however, it wont be as bad as I am imagining

Well I am thankful to be able to post even if it is just to cyber space

Glad to know there are others out there

Today makes day 3

I think the worst part has been the headaches

I am adding coffee to my regime in the morning

The withdrawl is killing me

I am drinking Advent carb control-chocolate is the best-no after taste for me-vanilla was not bad just an after tast I did not like

I am also eating 4 cups of yogurt, 2 sugar free fudgesicles and as many sugar free popsicles as I want

My surgery is schedued for the 21st

How did you get that little counter scale on your site?

I am pre diet 195 and want to get down to 120-130

I am having diabetic trouble and just can not seem to loose this weight

Where are you located in the world?

Thank you for writting please keep in touch

I can really use the support

Hi Jettjaxx

I'm in Ontario Canada, pre surg ( I/m going on aug 31/06). How bout you?

If you want to put a ticker in your sig. go to tickerfactory.com, follow the directions, copy the url and paste it into your sig.;)

Hi Surby,

Lots of docs don't require a pre surg diet. Don't know why some do and some don't. :)

Congratulations! to all of you on your upcoming surgeries. You WILL BE successful on the liquid diet! Best wishes to you all.

I'm 10 months out, but I wanted to let you know THAT same reason played a big part in my decision to have the Lapband surgery... I was always "thinking" of the next snack, meal, etc. And, I have to say now the trouble is that I don't get in enough calories. I've been telling myself I would do a better job and start to list everything. Same with exercise, I need to do better. We never stop learning.

I still eat a BUNCH of popsicles, I usually buy the no sugar added 35 calories each.. but, sometimes those flavors get boring so I buy the premium fruit and they're only 50 calories. So, even if I have two it's way better than a shake or fattening ice cream.

So, as your new Texas friend - I want to offer you 1 more encouraging cheer! :cheer2: YOU CAN DO THIS!

Karla

Today is my 1st day of the pre surgery diet. I have a splitting headache, and cannot take any asprin, or motrin. I wish I wish I could have something filling. I feel like an addict!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
