Sergeant_Hotsauce 18 Posted April 13, 2012 Good evening everyone! I'm looking for your experiences and how you handled drinking liquids after being sleeved. i keep reading sip, sip and tonight i realized that I drink, drink, gulp, gulp before during and after a meal. I know it takes effort and I'm going to start working on that but I was wondering how hard it was you and how did you overcome it, problems, frustations etc, etc..... nixi 38 Posted April 13, 2012 Heya, i'm 4 weeks post op today and i think i did alright wih liquids from the word go. I usually keep a bottle of Water with me all the time and i literally keep sipping on it throughout the day and refilling it. Initially i was doing tiny sips but then i realised i could take pretty decent sized sips and then i also add in coconut water or sugarfree juice when i get bored and need a change of taste. Sometimes when im eating i might need just a sip of water but try to follow the no water rule 30 mins before and after a meal as your stomach will fill up too fast then and you won't get enough calories or Proteins in. Good luck
Carly 56 Posted April 13, 2012 I was always a big guzzler of Water. Right after the surgery I was taking in only teeny tiny sips, but now, at almost two weeks, I am able to take a semi-regular sip. Of course, it has to process through a bit before I can take in another, and that's why it takes me longer to get all of my water in. I too, just keep a big ol' bottle of water with me and drink all day long- right up until bedtime. It does take some getting used to to not drink while eating, but there are so many other changes I am focused on, this one has not been troublesome.
