Lau12345 1 Posted April 12, 2012 TO READ! They say that after 6 years, lots of people develop acid reflux and 43% regained weight! http://www.bariatricspro.com/imageServer.aspx/doc213335.pdf?contentID=20352&contenttype=application/pdf
cookies 56 Posted April 12, 2012 Yes, and 40% of bariatric patients have reflux problems just from their weight...so...?? And all weight loss surgeries have a "bounce back" on average weights. All of them. I saw stats saying 97% of people who have the surgery who have Type 2 Diabetes have vast improvement or remission and that for very high BMI patients, mean EWL is at 52% at 72 months and 46% at 96 months. You should read the glass half empty thread we've got going.
Liberated Sleeve 148 Posted April 12, 2012 The diabetes improvement is well worth it and it appears that the majority of the control group at 6 years out was pleased with the surgery and results.

Being overweight is a big risk factor for GERD, so this totally makes sense.
grannyk 58 Posted April 13, 2012 Very, very interesting. All sleevers should read this. Although somewhat technical for the non-medical population of the forum, I think we should all be aware of the 6-year information and on the alert for the possibility of regaining some of the weight. Being aware may make us more vigilant about falling back into old habits. Thanks for the link, Lau12345...Kathe
