Needed: Sleeve-Specific Grocery List

Recommended Posts

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and so I dont have access to a stove to cook or sink to wash dishes. I am looking for easy throw-away snacks/ meals....

What do you buy that is healthy and Sleeve-specific???

Thanks!

I buy the lentils, chick peas in the microwave pouches. I eat half with a Fallopian of Greek yogurt. Yummy! I think tasty being is the brand.

I would avoid the egg beaters/egg substitute bc while they may be lower in calories and saturated fat- they are full of various things that can't be pronounced unless you have a Ph.D in chemistry. Instead opt for egg whites. You can get them in a carton and the only ingredient is 'egg whites'.

This is great. I'm only one week post op but this will be a handy reference tool for use later. Thx

Since your kitchen is out of order, there are a lot of shelf stable options.

I buy single-serving powder packets that have at least 15 grams of Protein in them from online retailers. I use BariatricChoice.com (same as dietdirect.com).

Many of the items come in paper envelopes that you just add Water to. They are shelf stable and easy to mix on the go.

I like their Fruit drinks and hot chocolate. There is a strawberry banana smoothie that has real bits of strawberry in it that is delicious especially if you use milk instead of Water and add ice and mix in a blender. It is wonderful. I really like the Fruit Drinks too -- tasty and refreshing and still 15 grams of Protein.< /p>

I also tried their Soups, but I didn't like those as much until I altered how I ate them. Instead of eating them by themselves, I add an envelope to "normal" Soup. It gives me the added protein with more flavor. I tried the broccoli and mushroom flavors.

I've also tried some of their protein chips. They are good to get the "crunch" of a chip, but they don't taste great. I liked the barbecue crunch the best.

I also like Protein Bars and Protein shakes. I can get Atkins brand at my local stores as well as EAS and Muscle Milk. I go for the ones that offer at least 15 grams of protein if not more. If it is less than 15 grams of protein, I don't bother buying them.

I'm a huge fan of muscle milk light rtd in vanilla latte. I also love Power Crunch bars. They.are like cookie wafers instead of dense Protein Bars, but high in Protein & low carb/low sugar. Also individual packs of almonds are good on the go. Peanut Butter on whole grain crackers or melba toast (has protein). Canned Beans. Hummus on whole wheat flat bread. Cream cheese w/ smoked salmon on flat bread. Just some thoughts :)

Oh! And buy paper cocktail plates & paper bowls & plastic silverware. You can make anything in the microwave that way. Also forgot to add lean cuisine steak & Portobello mushrooms is high Protein, low carb. I'm sure there are others that.are too, but I think this one is pretty good.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
