Lau12345 1 Posted April 11, 2012 Hello, My surgeon said that he is using a 36 to 40 bougie. I think this is too big. I have a friend that was sleeved by this surgeon and she gained most of her weight back. What do you think?
twoboysandagirl 109 Posted April 11, 2012 I am not sure about the bougie size...my surgeon didnt use one he used something else...but I wonder did your friend follow the meal plans given to her? Did she follow all the directions she was given? It is possible to gain weight because it is possible to "cheat the sleeve". Sorry she had this out come but you should use her mistakes to make sure you dont make them. I would ask her as many questions as she would let me about her losing stages and maintence and when she began to gain... Blessings to you,
besquared1426 49 Posted April 11, 2012 36f to 40f is a good safe size. The lowest most will go is 32f but you run a greater risk of stricture at that size. Do you trust your dr? If yes then go with that size. If not, then maybe you need a different doc.
hellonurse 76 Posted April 12, 2012 I just got back from my pre op class, I asked my Doctor what size bougie he used, he said 32f I trust him, he's a great Doctor. Plus he has one heck of a sense of humor! Sent from my iPhone using VST
Wheetsin 714 Posted April 12, 2012 My surgeon uses a 34 boughie. He feels this is great restriction without going down to a 32, which he considers too risky for stricture.
Caradina 65 Posted April 12, 2012 I had a 32f bougie used for me. I feel like my restriction is actually alittle too much, as I struggle to get over 700 cals right now daily. I'm hoping it means that when I'm fully healed and my capacity increases it stays under 6oz...
