5 Weeks Post Op And Feeling Bad. Am I Dehydrated?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, I ate a coffee popsicle from Whole Foods. It was wonderful! But all night long I had to urinate.

Then this morning, I drank 1/2 a Protein Shake made from Click (coffee Protein powder).

Today I feel bad. A little dizzy, my stomach hurts, and my eyes were unevenly dilated. I'm super tired.

I've drank about 52 ounces today; 20 in the past hour. I've been averaging 40-50 ounces a day since surgery.

Could I be dehydrated? Really, from a popsicle further complicated by a Click Protein shake? Do I need to go in, or can I just keep drinking?

Was the popsicle sugar free? What was in it? In my experience if it is something you ate the sick feeling is more immediate. I dont think you are dehydrated if you have been getting in that much fluid...I would think maybe you are just coming down with something. Take it easy and if you arent feeling better or symptoms are the same with no others (leading more like a cold or flu) than give the DR a call. Make sure to keep us post.

Probably need to give up the caffiene products. It could also contribute to dehydration. ;)

Thanks everyone, I think there may have been caffeine in the yummy popsicle.

Tonight I had a decent dinner and have drunk (drank?) 65 ounces, and I am starting to feel better. I hate that I cannot have even a little caffeine.

I guess I'll skip the Click for now...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
