M trying to figure our if the big tight feeling or sharp rumble feeling kind of like a big bubble caught is the feeling of being full. Otherwise how do you know? I'm never hungry so I'm not sure if that's eat? If so I am on my 5th day post op and can only have two small bites of Soup. Then wait about 15 to thirty and have two more bites of soup(broth). Does that sound normal?

Yes, it is completely normal. You won't be eating "normal" until about 3-4 months out and even then it will never be the same as it use to. The feeling of being full with the big bubble is your stomach readjusting to food/liquid in it. It will take some time to go away. It took about 3-4 weeks for mine to leave. You will eventually know when you are hungry. Good luck on your journey!

I am 8 weeks out and I have that feeling. I always say it feels like a rock in my chest. Now I can take about three drinks of liquid at once before I get that feeling and It goes away pretty fast. When I eat though, it is a completely different story. I can only hold about two table spoons of food before the rock shows up. It takes a long time for it to go away then.. and if I take one more bite or even swallow what is left in my mouth, I WILL throw it back up. I spit out a lot of food. I have a very tight restriction.

I get it too. I'm 3 weeks out today and struggle to eat more than a few bites at a time. It's hard to get enough calories because my restriction is so tight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
